The Dog and the Shadow
It happened that a
Dog had got a piece of meat and was carrying it home in his mouth to eat
it in peace. Now on his way home he had to cross a plank lying across a
running brook. As he crossed, he looked down and saw his own shadow
reflected in the water beneath. Thinking it was another dog with another
piece of meat, he made up his mind to have that also. So he made a snap
at the shadow in the water, but as he opened his mouth the piece of
meat fell out, dropped into the water and was never seen more.
Beware lest you lose the substance by grasping at the shadow.
狗与影子
碰巧一只狗得到了一块肉，正叼着它回家安详地吃。现在在回家的路上，他不得不穿过一条小溪上的木板。当他穿过马路时，他低头看到自己的影子倒映在下面的水中。他以为是另一条狗拿着另一块肉，于是决定也要那块肉。于是他对着水中的影子猛咬了一口，但当他张开嘴时，那块肉掉了出来，掉进了水里，再也看不见了。
小心，以免抓住阴影而失去物质。
